Ista Weyr's History

This page represents a history of Ista Weyr, both in the books or canon and also on the game itself. All players are welcome to include items for any major Weyr events (such as hatchings), TPs that affected the Weyr as a whole, etc. If the IC date can be included, that would be awesome, but RL dates are fine if that's all that people have available.

Canonical History

Bear in mind that it's very likely that much of Pern is not ICly aware of the details of these events, even stuff that happened in the 9th Pass. Lists of names are possible, most likely for names of high-ranking individuals, but in general, we as players will know more of Ista's book-given history than our characters will. Also, as with any books written about Pern's history after the discovery of Landing do not count and their events should not be included here, as PernMUSH's history diverged then.

  • First Pass, Turn 28 - Ista Weyr's site is selected, but it's founded later.
  • Second Pass - D'miel and bronze Ronelth are the Weyrleader pair. Laura is the Weyrwoman.
  • Third Pass - C'rion is Weyrleader and he and his bronze Nidanth die in Threadfall. Dalia is Weyrwoman with gold Bidenth. J'lantir, rider of bronze Lolath, succeeds as Weyrleader.
  • Sixth Pass, Turn 22 - Revered queenrider Moreta is searched from Keroon and Impresses gold Orlith at Ista Weyr. She would eventually transfer to Fort Weyr.
  • Sixth Pass, Turn 42 - The Plague, many riders die due to it at all Weyrs, including Ista. F'gal, rider of bronze Sanalth, is Weyrleader. Wimmia, rider of gold Torenth, is Weyrwoman. Fort Weyr's Moreta dies whilst returning from her last vaccine delivery through the holds of Keroon. The Ballad of Moreta's Ride is commissioned, although it deliberately changes common knowledge of events by listing Moreta as having ridden Orlith on her trek, rather than Leri's Holth.
  • Eighth Interval/Second Long Interval, Turn 1 - D'ram and Fanna are Weyrleader and Weyrwoman when Lessa times it from the Ninth Pass. They lead Ista's entire population of dragonriders, dragons, and support staff to the future, and Ista Weyr remains abandoned.
  • Ninth Pass, Turn 1 - Ista Weyr is repopulated by the Oldtimers once they arrive from the beginning of the Long Interval with Lessa of Benden Weyr.
  • Ninth Pass, Turn 14 - Fanna dies, and D'ram resigns as Weyrleader. G'dned's bronze Baranth flies Cosira's Caylith in an open flight to determine Ista's new Weyrleader. T'kul's bronze Salth of High Reaches tries to fly in the open flight but dies, and Masterharper Robinton has a heart attack during the subsequent fight between F'lar and T'kul.

On-Game History

This is the history of Ista Weyr as noted by our players, since the game's opening in 1991. Links to logs of important events (hatchings, TPs, etc.) are welcome, if the logs themselves are not uploaded here for public perusal.

Ninth Interval

  • Turn 243 (May/June 1991) - Ista Weyr opens on PernMUSH with Iliana and Sh'dow as Weyrleaders.
  • Day 1, Month 3, Turn 243 (July 14th, 1991) - Ista's first PC hatching. Iliana is murdered by a drudge, rumored to be Thenomain. Sheanna, Aurith's newly-Impressed lifemate, becomes Ista's second on-game Weyrwoman.
  • Day 31, Month 12, Turn 243 (September 21st, 1991) - Aurith and Kereneth's clutch hatches, and future Fort Weyrwoman Ambar Impresses. Future Acting Weyrleader H'kon also Impresses.
  • May/September 1992 - Sheanna steps down as Weyrwoman, and Gwyneth takes over. Sh'dow remains as Weyrleader.
  • September 1992 - Aurith rises over the Weyr in a Leadership flight, to be caught by G'ravon's Tevrath of Benden Weyr.
  • Day 26, Month 9, Turn 248 (October 23rd, 1992) - Tevrath and Aurith's clutch hatches. Future High Reaches Weyrleader G'son Impresses.
  • January/February 1993 - Tevrath falls from his ledge and dies from his injuries. G'ravon survives as Garavon and departs the Weyr. H'kon assumes Acting Weyrleader duties.
  • Day 16, Month 3, Turn 250 (February 24th, 1993) - Tidrith and Aurith's clutch hatches. Future Acting Weyrleader S'lan Impresses.
  • May 1993 - End of the Ninth Interval. Threadfall begins on PernMUSH.

Tenth Pass

  • July 1993 - Mirth rises over the Weyr in a Leadership flight, to be caught by B'dan's Talth of Fort Weyr. Uproar ensues over whether B'dan was a full-fledged rider or not. Fort's Weyrlingmaster Miritha states he had completed his training, and he is permitted to be Weyrleader.
  • Day 11, Month 6, Turn 2 (August 31st, 1993) - Mirth and Talth's clutch hatches. Future Junior Weyrwoman Kirra and future Acting Weyrleader N'ren Impress.
  • September 1993/March 1994 - Gwyneth steps down as Weyrwoman, and Deyaan, a transfer from Benden Weyr, takes over. B'dan remains as Weyrleader.
  • March 1994 - Zaerith rises over the Weyr in a Leadership flight, to be caught by T'lor's brown Brolth of Igen Weyr, making T'lor a for-real brownrider as Weyrleader. Browns are soon denied OOC permission to be full Weyrleader or to rise in Leadership flights.
  • 2nd half of 1994/April 1995 - T'lor resigns as Weyrleader, and first S'lan and then N'ren assume the role of Acting Weyrleader.
  • April 1995 - Zaerith rises over the Weyr in a Leadership flight, to be caught by J'cot's Valenth.
  • August/October 1995 - Deyaan resigns as Weyrwoman, and Germaine takes over. J'cot remains as Weyrleader.
  • October 1995 - Isadith rises over the Weyr in a Leadership flight, to be caught by J'rus' Rodrith of Benden Weyr.
  • Day 1, Month 9, Turn 14 (June 23rd, 1996) - Kailyth and Neith's clutch hatches. Future Weyrleader L'tan Impresses.
  • July 14th, 1996 - Isadith rises over the Weyr in a Leadership flight, to be caught by G'rel's Keth.
  • February 10th, 1997 - Germaine resigns as Weyrwoman, and Merellia takes over. G'rel remains as Weyrleader.
  • July 7th, 1997 - Neith rises over the Weyr in a Leadership flight, to be caught by L'tan's Habrith.
  • Day 21, Month 9, Turn 19 (August 21st, 1997) - Habrith and Neith's clutch hatches. Future Junior Weyrwoman Madelynda, future Telgar Weyrleader M'hryn, and future Acting Weyrleader Liz Impress.
  • Day 31, Month 2, Turn 25 (November 21st, 1998) - Habrith and Neith's clutch hatches. Future Weyrleader A'zric Impresses.
  • March 18th, 1999 - Neith rises over the Weyr in a Leadership flight, to be caught by T'bin's Ashroth. The flight did not result in a PC clutch.
  • October 24th, 1999 - Merellia resigns as Weyrwoman, T'bin resigns as Weyrleader, and Nikana takes over as Weyrwoman without an Acting Weyrleader.
  • October 31st, 1999 - Tamina assumes the role of Acting Weyrleader.
  • January 13th, 2000 - Neith rises over the Weyr in a Leadership flight, to be caught by A'zric's Gelth, marking Merellia's second tenure as Weyrwoman.
  • Day 31, Month 9, Turn 30 (March 4th, 2000) - Gelth and Neith's clutch hatches. Future Weyrwoman Reye Impresses.
  • March 10th, 2000 - Isadith rises over the Weyr in a Leadership flight, to be caught by A'zric's Gelth.
  • April 21st, 2001 - Qirith rises over the Weyr in a Leadership flight, to be caught by S'ris' Tuoth.
  • Day 31, Month 3, Turn 36 (June 9th, 2001) - Tuoth and Qirith's clutch hatches. Future Weyrwoman Kyrola Impresses.
  • February 4th, 2002 - Qirith rises over the Weyr in a Leadership flight, to be caught by M'llon's Bromith of Igen Weyr.
  • February 24th, 2003 - Fluria resigns as Weyrwoman due to illness, and Kyrola takes over as Acting Weyrwoman.
  • Between February 24th and April 28th, 2003 - Zaith was due to rise in an NPC Leadership flight to reconfirm M'llon as Weyrleader, although Kyrola resigns after Zaith sustains a broken wing injury.
  • April 28th, 2003 - Omfaleth rises over the Weyr in a Leadership flight, to be caught by M'llon's Bromith, making Reye the new Weyrwoman.
  • November 24th, 2003 - M'llon resigns as Weyrleader, and Liz takes over as Acting Weyrleader.
  • December 5th, 2003 - Omfaleth rises over the Weyr in a Leadership flight, to be caught by S'dar's Chezroth of Telgar Weyr.
  • August 15th, 2004 - Ista Weyr rides Last Fall with the rest of PernMUSH over Benden Weyr.

Tenth Interval

  • November 19th, 2004 - Omfaleth rises over the Weyr in a Leadership flight, to be caught by K'tdan's Faorath. The flight resulted in an NPC clutch.
  • May 3rd, 2005 - Reye resigns as Weyrwoman, and Kylia takes over. K'tdan remains as Weyrleader.
  • June 27th, 2005 - Essieth rises over the Weyr in a Leadership flight, to be caught by B'rakis' Xalerth. The flight resulted in an NPC clutch.
  • Day 1, Month 1, Turn 5 (October 2nd, 2005) - Volath and Aerianth's clutch hatches. Future Junior Weyrwoman Nolee and future Fort Weyrleader M'yr Impress.
  • November 9th, 2005 - B'rakis resigns as Weyrleader.
  • December 3rd, 2005 - Aerianth rises over the Weyr in a Leadership flight, to be caught by V'lano's Volath of Telgar Weyr. The flight resulted in an NPC clutch.
  • Day 31, month 1, Turn 16 (April 19th, 2008) - Nikoth and Aerianth's clutch hatches. Future Junior Weyrwoman Fayre Impresses.
  • August 2008 - Kyrola returns to be Acting Weyrwoman of Ista upon the resignation of Griere. R'layn is named Acting Weyrleader upon the resignation of A'son.
  • October 24th, 2008 - Zaith rises over the Weyr to be caught by Talurith, making R'layn Weyrleader and confirming Kyrola as Weyrwoman.
  • Day 1, Month 7, Turn 18 (November 9th, 2008) - Zaith clutches 15 eggs on the sands, including a queen egg.
  • Day 1, Month 12, Turn 18 (December 14th, 2008) - Zaith and Talurith's clutch hatches. Future Junior Weyrwoman Miraen Impresses.
