Ista Weyr is considered the smallest of Pern's Weyrs, with only 250 dragonpairs to its name. Situated on Big Island, it flies Threadfall during the Pass over Ista Hold and much of Keroon. Ista's dragons helped rebuild the High Reaches line of queens with the transfer of Chana and gold Melirth to High Reaches Weyr before the Pass started. Ista is also responsible for the entire Southern Continent's line of queens with the transfer of Marlena and Maylith to Southern Weyr.
Ista's current Weyrleaders are Kyrola, Zaith's rider, and R'layn, Talurith's rider.

| About the Weyr (OOCly)

| Ista Weyr was founded in 1991 as one of the five Weyrs on PernMUSH, which in itself was one of the first Pern-themed MUSHes. Set right before the 10th Pass of the Red Star, PernMUSH has roleplayed its way through the entire 50-turn Pass and is now in the 10th Interval, thanks to the magic of 4:1 time on the MUSH. The game also features a low-technology setting, where AIVAS was never rediscovered and thus the Red Star still menaces Pern periodically.
Players are welcome to join Ista Weyr as a resident, staffer such as headwoman or steward, or be posted to the Weyr as a crafter. Due to the game's policies, players may not join as a pre-existing dragonrider character, but are more than welcome to participate in our Search cycle to Impress a dragon on-camera.
