Weyrlinghood is a special time in the life of a rider and his dragon. It encompasses their first days together -- a time of learning about each other, the world they share, and their new role at the weyr. For the dragon, life is brand new and exciting, while for the rider, it is a time of growth and change. Not everyone will change as much as some, but no one should be the same person they were before they stepped onto the Sands.
The Weyrling Program at Ista Weyr is likely to be quite a bit different than those many of you have experienced in the past, should you have Impressed before. The main RP focus is on training the Weyrlings to become strong and competent dragonriders. However, due to a special TP, we have a secondary focus -- training these new riders to help fill in the ranks of Ista’s special search and rescue wing. The entire program will last a total of seven weeks with graduation taking place as the RP event that final week. For the first six weeks there will be two on camera classes offered each week that will be led by the various members of the Weyrlingmaster Team according to their strengths and interests. These classes are not mandatory, but you will benefit the most from having attended them and the group as a whole will benefit from a strong turnout. Should you idle after the Hatching with no communication to the Weyrlingmaster, you may be kept in the Weyrling wing instead of graduating with the others at our discretion.
The goal of the program is to foster a bond between the Weyrlings that will last throughout the time they play at Ista as well as making Weyrlinghood a fun and memorable experience for everyone.
